A Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) designation is a certification given to businesses owned by members of racial or ethnic minority groups. This designation is used by the government and corporations to increase minority participation in their procurement process. The value of having an MBE designation is that it allows businesses to have access to contracts and resources that would have otherwise been unavailable to them.

To receive an MBE designation, a business must meet certain criteria. The business must be 51% owned and controlled by an individual or group from a designated minority group. Additionally, the business must be a for-profit business, and the owner(s) must provide proof of their status as a minority.
